NSW: New Year s Eve plans dashed for owners of sunken cruiser

Fire aboard a luxury cruiser off Sydney's Coogee Beach has dashed the hopes of friends
hoping to welcome in the new year on the Harbour.

A Water Police officer says two men and two women were on the 45 foot motor cruiser,
about 2km offshore, when it caught fire shortly before 8.30am (AEDT).

The group was rescued by friends in a second vessel.

Both boats were heading for the Harbour to see the New Year's eve fireworks .

The water police spokesman says the boat sank soon after the fire.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
